The Nursing Director will provide clinical and technical support for a Primary Care Medical unit as well as a Quick Care program at Thunder mist Health Center. The medical department operates Monday through Saturday and is staffed with Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. The department is supported by Behavioral Health and Social Services. Quick Care operation is a 365 days a year operation that provides patients with extended hours that differs from the medical clinic and is supported with Nurse Practitioners and Medical Assistants.
The Director will successfully identify problems, consider variables, and develop feasible solutions on a timely basis to all barriers impacting its operations. Provide high quality clinical and customer service by promptly addressing staff and patient issues, using previously established practice guidelines in order to offer advice and health information. She/he will act as a resource for clinical staff regarding patient health care needs and will provide leadership in support of high staff morale and productivity. She/he may fulfill the role of staff nurse as required.
The Director will work towards continuously improving staff and patient workflows, engaging staff in the development thereof and implementing and driving the change within the department. Follow through to ensure process improvements are understood and executed accordingly.
He/She will work with Practice Manager, the Call Center and team members reviewing daily provider schedules, ensuring accuracy in the flow, maximization of scheduling, coordination of provider schedules, review and approval of staff time off and creation of staff schedules. Will also be responsible for ensuring monthly attainment of department productivity and quality measures.
Support and assist the Health care and Practice Transformation team with meeting standards of care for quality that is consistent with federal, state and accreditation guidelines.
> Current State of Rhode Island license
> Bachelor’s degree in nursing and or Health Care Administration, Master preferred
> 3-5 years Management within Ambulatory Health Care experience strongly desired
> Proven success in handling difficult conversations with all level of staff; specifically Medical Assistants, Health Care Providers and Nurses.
> Proven success in motivating staff and ensuring positive staff morale
> Job knowledge- broad knowledge base of relevant professional, technical and clinical information in assigned department
> Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients, providers, other members of the health care team, other disciplines and community agencies
> Successfully completes competency (oral and written) for CLIA waived test.
